How do you get from the Brisbane Airport to Surfers Paradise?

We were looking to fly into the Gold Coast airport but all of the flights were booked out so we have instead had to fly into the Brisbane airport and were wondering how do we get from the Brisbane airport to Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast. We would prefer not to hire a car and would like to know if there are any public transport potions available.
