What does ETA & ETD mean when referring to hotel bookings?

I recently booked some accommodation online and was asked to enter in something for ETA and ETD. Can anyone please tell me what these acronyms stand for with regards to online hotel accommodation bookings.

The common acronym ETA stands for 'Estimated Time of Arrival' and ETD stands for 'Estimated Time of Departure'. With hotel bookings you will generally need to fill in at least the ETA so that the staff there know when to expect you and in some cases may even sell your room to someone else if you don't turn up on time or let them know that you are running late.

DThomas is exactly correct, and you will very rarely see the ETD required for an online booking because people generally won't know what time they will be departing at that stage. You will normally inform the staff of your ETD either upon check-in or the night before your departure.
