How far is the MCG from the city centre?

Does anyone know how far the Melbourne Cricket Ground is from the city centre of Melbourne. Would I be able to walk there easily, and if not is there any form of public transport that can take me from the city centre to the MCG.

You can easily walk to the MCG and the surrounding sporting precinct from the Melbourne CBD. The MCG is only about 1 kilometre away from the eastern edge of the city centre, but it is much further from the western and northern parts of the city centre and if this is where you are staying then it will probably be better to catch either a tram, taxi or even a train and get off at the Richmond train station.
