What are some of the best dining places in Melbourne?

I will be going to Melbourne for about a week for work later this month and was curious about what are the best dining precincts for someone who loves food, coffee and a nice bottle of red wine. I have heard about Lygon Street in Carlton as was wondering is this still the best place to go out for dinner, or are there some other places that I am not aware of.

Apart from Lygon Street and its Italian restaurants you should try heading down to Southbank or the new Docklands waterfront precinct to find some a large range of really nice places to eat. Victoria Street in North Richmond has a great selection of Vietnamese restaurants and Bridge Road in Richmond has plenty of places to eat as well.

I have found that Southbank has some great waterfront places along the Yarra River to go for a meal and it is conveniently positioned within walking distance of most city accommodation.
